'No option but to stand in the rain,' concern over lack of bus shelters in Tipperary

Sinn Féin TD For Tipperary, Martin Browne, has called on the council and the National Transport Authority to provide bus shelters at bus stops throughout the county.
Deputy Browne said: "There have been ongoing calls for shelters to be provided at bus stops in Cashel and other towns in Tipperary.
"Unfortunately, many bus stops around the county currently do not have any shelters which leaves people no option but to stand in the rain on wet days.
"As the Government expands the public transport network and more people use bus stops each day this is becoming a more pressing issue particularly during the winter months when we have more rain as we have had over the past few weeks.
"I’m calling on the council and the national transport authority to carry out an audit of all the bus stops across the county to establish how many do not have shelters and to prepare a list of stops where shelters could be installed.
"In Cashel we have a high number of people using the bus stop each day to get buses to Dublin, Cork, Limerick and local travel within Tipperary yet there has been no progress made on getting a bus shelter installed. I’m asking the council and the NTA to do what they can to provide shelters in Cashel and throughout the county."
