Independent TD for Tipperary South Seamus Healy, has spoken out against the governments decision to vote against the Bill.

A Tipperary TD has hit out at the government, after they voted against the Bill to stop the Central Bank from facilitating the sale of Israeli War Bonds 75 to 87.

A Sinn Féin bill was brought to Leinster House last night, that sought to prevent the Irish Central Bank from approving the document which allows Israel to sell bonds in the European Union.

The Government won the vote with 87 votes to 75, meaning the bill was not passed.

Independent TD for Tipperary South Seamus Healy, has spoken out against the governments decision to vote against the Bill, stating that:

"Our Government's inaction makes us complicit in genocide. It makes this State, this Government and the Irish people complicit in genocide and it is not good enough.

"Tonight Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael have voted against ending the use of Ireland as a financial conduit for Israel’s genocide in Palestine. They have voted to continue to allow the sale of Israeli war bonds through the Irish Central Bank of Ireland.

"What is happening in Gaza is the ultimate appalling vista and it is a deliberate destruction of the Palestinian people by bomb, bullet and starvation.

"To quote Stephen Bowen of Amnesty Ireland: "We are witnessing a population being starved to death in front of our eyes. What is preventing our Government from saying 'This is Genocide. This must stop.' Lead and others will follow."
