Over €300,000 in funding approved for the Thurles-Templemore District

The finance director at Tipperary County Council says the money will be of great benefit locally
Councillors have approved a Draft Budgetary Plan of €302,345 for the Thurles-Templemore Municipal District for 2025.
The plan was approved by councillors at last week’s sitting of the Thurles-Templemore Municipal District Council, proposed by Cllr Sean Ryan and seconded by Cllr Kay Cahill-Skehan.
The Draft Budgetary Plan sets out the discretionary funding, called General Municipal Allocation (GMA) for each district.
It is allocated based on population for which the Thurles-Templemore District has the third highest in the county.
Next year’s funding for the Thurles Templemore District increased 43% compared to 2024 of €211,815.
Director of Finance and IT and the Thurles-Templemore District, Mark Connelly welcomed the increase in funding.
“There will be tough decisions at the council level but we will benefit from this in this district,” said Mr Connelly.
The total provision for the county’s General Municipal Allocation for 2025 is €1,381,283.
The GMA fund is made up of €1,011,279 from the decision to increase the Property Tax in September and €350,004 allocated to the local authority.
