People in Tipperary urged to donate blood as demand reaches new highs

People living in Tipperary should consider giving blood as demand reaches new highs, says the Irish Blood Transfusion Service.
The Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) is calling on the people of Nenagh and the wider Tipperary community to continue attend donation clinics as the need for donations reaches unprecedented levels.
Nenagh and Tipperary support has saved countless lives. But now, as hospitals nationwide experience rising demand for blood products month after month, the need for regular donors has never been more urgent.
“There is no substitute for human blood,” said a spokesperson for the IBTS. “It is essential for cancer patients, trauma cases, surgeries, and premature babies. We rely on everyday heroes—like the people of Tipperary—to keep the supply steady.”
In recent months, the demand for blood and blood products has increased significantly. This rising pressure is driven by more surgeries, increased cancer treatments, and the ongoing recovery of the health service post-COVID. Meeting this growing demand depends entirely on the willingness of the public to roll up their sleeves.
