PICTURE: Fun and friendship at the Knit and Knatter Group at Circle of Friends

The Knit and Knatter group at the Circle of Friends Cancer Support Centre in Tipperary Town is a group that loves to meet for friendship, fun, socialising, having a chat and doing a bit of knitting.
The group meets every Wednesday from 11am to 1pm. A person doesn’t have to be skilled at knitting to participate as there are plenty of skilled knitters to guide you.
During 2022, the knitters hand-knit nine bags of warm caps and scarves for Ukraine, plus blankets in the Ukrainian colours.
The group had a very successful annual Christmas Sale of Work and they also sent knitted caps to the premature baby units in Clonmel Hospital and Cork University Hospital.
They are continuously knitting blankets for people who are ill and they knit a wide selection of items for babies, children and adults. They do all of this while happily chatting away with others in the group only stopping to enjoy a cup of tea/coffee.
I called to see them at work and was very impressed by the selection of items which they had displayed. They told me that many items are available to purchase and that anyone interested should contact the centre on 062-33550.
I always love visiting Circle of Friends as there is a great welcoming atmosphere in the centre.
There is so much happening in the centre and the Knit and Knatter group is yet another aspect of the wonderful work that goes on there.
Circle of Friends is a volunteer-run cancer support centre for the community of Tipperary and its surrounding villages and towns.
