Planning application seeks café use for historic building at castle grounds in Tipperary

Public Works body applies to change use of protected visitor centre to a café
The Commissioners for Public Works have lodged a planning application with Tipperary County Council seeking permission for a proposed development at Damer House on Castle Street in Roscrea.
Damer House, originally built in 1728 within the grounds of Roscrea Castle, is one of the town’s most notable historic properties. The building, a protected structure, is currently used as a visitor centre and museum and forms part of the wider heritage complex at the castle site.
The application outlines a proposed change of use that would see the building operate as a café. The shift would represent a new chapter for the structure while maintaining its public function within the heritage setting.
Tipperary County Council has indicated that a decision on the application is expected by January 17th next year.
