Cllr Fiona Bonfield said a plan is needed for the road, not just the bus

Councillor Fiona Bonfield has raised concerns about a bus service between Thurles and Limerick being delayed at the Mackey roundabout.

The Mackey roundabout is a very busy area of roadway just before Castletroy in Limerick.

The Newport councillor said that there is a serious issue there for people using the Tipperary Local Link service to get to work or college in the morning.

She said it is something that needs to be addressed with more people going back to the office.

An official from the Roads Section of the council said they work very closely with Local Link who do “exceptional work.”

He said they are well aware of the issues with that service and have put on a second bus for students and are looking at bigger buses.

Cllr Bonfield said Local Link are providing  very good service but that traffic on the road is the issue.

She said an overall plan for the road is needed.  Cllr Anne Marie Ryan suggested Local Link make a presentation to the council on what they do Roads

Director Liam Brett said they would liaise with Limerick County Council.
