Public advised of important drone survey underway in Tipperary

The survey is being carried out between August 8 and 16, 2024
Tipperary County Council is advising the public that they are carrying out a drone survey in the Cappawhite area.
A drone aerial survey of the affected river corridors will commence on Thursday, August 8, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed by 5pm on the 16th August 16, 2024.
The drone aerial survey will operate between the hours of 9am and 5pm during these dates.
The survey is to determine the extent of Giant Hogweed infestation along rivers and streams in the Cappawhite area
Giant hogweed is a non-native invasive hazardous plant, which can cause serious skin burns and other health issues. Children are particularly at risk.
Severe infestations occur along the Toem, Cappawhite and Cahernahaille tributaries of the upper Mulkear/Dead River catchment (Cappawhite area).
The Local Authority Water Programme (LAWPRO) in partnership with the local community, Tipperary County Council and other partners are working on an action plan to tackle the problem.
This survey is the first step.
