Public representatives have called for a relocation of a bus stop in Tipperary Town.

A motion tabled by Cllr Roger Kennedy, seeking the relocation, was supported by his colleagues on Tipperary/Cahir/Cashel Municipal District.

He called for the authority to approve the movement of the Tipperary town bus stop for the Waterford to Limerick commuters to the Link Road and a bus shelter to be provided on the existing bus stop site.

Clllr Kennedy said it was not good enough to leave people out waiting in the rain. The matter had been raised by councillors before and it was about time it went ahead.

Cllr Annemarie Ryan said the relocation made perfect sense. She had a motion about it tabled last summer and nothing had been done since.

“Hopefully it will happen, sooner rather than later,” said Cllr Ryan.

Cllr Mary Hanna she hoped it would happen soon.

The members were told that the NTA had carried out an assessment of the bus stops at Link road and Abbey St with a view to upgrading the stop locations.

As a result Tipperary County Council had requested the NTA to fund the relocation of the Abbey St stop to the location suggested.
