Residents want temporary yellow lines painted on two Carrick-on-Suir streets removed

Cllr Kieran Bourke pressed for the removal of the yellow lines on Mill Street and John Street at this month's meeting of Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District councillors
Residents of two Carrick-on-Suir streets fear parking outside their homes due to yellow lines that were temporarily put in place during a road project in the town that is now complete.
Cllr Kieran Bourke appealed to Tipperary County Council to remove the yellow lines from Carrick’s Mill Street and John Street at Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District’s monthly meeting last Thursday.
He said the lines were painted on these streets while the N24 Carrick-on-Suir Pavement Scheme that upgraded 3.2km of the N24 running through the town was taking place. They were put in place to accommodate HGVs diverted down those streets when they couldn’t access O’Mahony Avenue.
The Fianna Fáil councillor said residents were assured at the time the yellow lines were just temporary.
He highlighted how they are particularly concerned now about parking outside their homes after a parking ticket was slapped on a CBS Green School teacher’s vehicle parked on John Street. The school’s principal Denis Cotter contacted him to ask if the yellow lines could be removed.
“I think it’s only right that this be carried out,” said Cllr Bourke.
District Engineer Michael Scully gave a commitment to look at the issue of the yellow lines on John Street and Mill Street straight away.
