REVEALED: 50 jobs announced at Dovida opening in large Tipperary town

Formerly known as Home Instead, Dovida has officially opened their doors in Thurles
May Day 2025 marked not only the beginning of summer, but also the grand opening of Dovida Tipperary on Liberty Square in Thurles.
Formerly known as Home Instead Tipperary, the launch of Dovida brings with it the exciting news that the company are looking for 50 new recruits to join their efforts in providing quality home care across the county.
Tipperary woman Marguerite Keating, a member of the European Working Group of People with Dementia, cut the ribbon to loud cheers alongside special guests Deputy Michael Lowry and Caregiver of the Year, Carol Slattery.
For over 20 years, Home Instead have delivered premium home care to ageing adults in communities nationwide.
Dovida Tipperary say they are dedicated to continuing their good work with the same commitment to excellence and compassion.
Deputy Lowry spoke of the importance of having a service like Dovida for Tipperary's elderly population:
"As a public representative, I see every other day the difficulties and the problems that we have seen when taking care of those who have additional needs, across many areas, but particularly older people in our communities.
"Dovida is a company that is well established with a huge reputation. They've been recognised as being very competent, and very caring with a professional approach to everything that they do.
"The difficulty that the HSE have nowadays and the difficulty that everybody delivering healthcare have is personnel, personnel who are confident, personnel who have the ability to deliver the care that the company has on offer, and it's remarkable here that there's 170 people walking from this office delivering care to over 300 people who are in need of support.
"I'm also glad to see that the company is having a look at and doing some analysis and assessment in relation to what could be done to provide respite and to provide services for young people. In particular young people under 18 years of age, who often fall between the system. I think it's something that the company could progress.
"And finally I'll say that older people do tend to have a lot of sensitivities. For an older person to allow you into their home, to allow you into their space, it commands huge trust and respect. It's not just a service you give them, but a friendship. So thank you all for the excellent work and best of luck and continued success.
