REVEALED: Amount paid out in Tipperary under vacant property refurbishment grant

There were 45 applications made to the council under the scheme in Q4
Tipperary County Council has paid out over €780,000 in grants to refurbish vacant and derelict properties across the county in a three month period last year.
The local authority paid out €780,621 in grants to bring vacant properties back into use between October and December last year, new figures from the Department of Housing show.
The figures for quarter four of 2024 show that there were 45 applications made to Tipperary County Council under the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant scheme, with 38 of these being approved by the authority.
Nationally, over €77million was paid out under the scheme, which saw 1,449 homes brought back into use.
The figures also show that since the funding stream was launched in June 2022, 11,327 applications have been made under the scheme, with 7,738 of these being approved.
Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne said that “the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant is delivering real results.
“The rapid increase in grant payments shows the scheme is growing momentum, helping to tackle vacancy and providing much-needed housing,” the Minister added.
