REVEALED: Iconic building at the heart of local Tipperary town centre sold

TD Michael Lowry confirmed the sale of the old post office in Thurles
An Post has confirmed the sale of its former premises in Liberty Square, Thurles.
Contracts have been signed with a Kilkenny based company.
The new owner intends a very substantial investment to repurpose the building into private rental residential accommodation units.
Speaking on the sale, Tipperary North TD Michael Lowry said: “This will be a welcome addition to housing stock particularly for those struggling to find starter accommodation in the Thurles area.”
The Thurles post office is currently located in the Thurles shopping centre.
The decision to relocate the post office outside of Liberty Square caused great contention when the change was announced in 2019, with many locals taking to the streets of Thurles in protest of the decision.
