Rundown Tipperary sports amenity to be revived after receiving LEADER funding

Castleiney ball alley will be rejuvenated
Castleiney Development Association has received a major boost with the confirmation of LEADER funding for the rejuvenation of the Castleiney Ball Alley.
The funding was granted through Tipperary LCDC and the North Tipperary Development Company (NTDC), marking a significant step in the community’s efforts to revitalize this much-loved local amenity.
At the recent contract signing, representatives from both NTDC and Castleiney Development Association gathered to celebrate the milestone.
Among those present were Michael Murray, E. Wolohan, and Patrick Killeen of NTDC, as well as Eoin Brennan, Maudie Keegan, Gerry Mackey, Ann-Marie Higgins, and Tim Maher from the Castleiney Development Association. They were joined by local councillor Michael Smith and Jody Harkin, Principal of Castleiney National School.
The project aims to breathe new life into the historic ball alley, enhancing it as a recreational and social space for the entire community. The funding is part of the wider LEADER programme, which supports rural development initiatives across Ireland.
