Following great results over recent years Tipperary athlete Sharlene Mawdsley has announced she is turning professional.

The Newport AC athlete has competed for Ireland with impressive results across 2023 and now she has announced on the internet that she will be running professionally for PUMA in the coming years.

Her star has continued to rise. She shone both individually in the 400m sprint as well as and as part of the mixed 4x400m relay team at the World Championships in Budapest.

She set personal bests in the 200 and 400 metres this year and ran the anchor leg in the 4x400m mixed relay semi-final in which her top class speed of 50.14 was the quickest of all anchors.

That was enough to put the Irish team through to the final. The future is bright for the rising Tipperary star.
