Sharlene Mawdsley produces the goods again for Ireland with a lifetime best

Earlier this Sunday morning in Budapest, just another race and another day at the track for Sharlene Mawdsley, the Tipperary athlete made history again as she continues to grab all the headlines for Ireland at the World Championships.
This time the Newport Athletic Club star was out in the first heat of the 400m, barely twelve hours after anchoring the Irish mixed 4x400m relay quartet to sixth-place at the end of that final, and she hit the ground running putting in another great performance to finish fourth with a lifetime best of 51.17.
After racing two relay race legs on Saturday, the Tipperary racer proved she is in top form and she has qualified as one of the six fastest-losers.
The time was an improvement on her previous best at that distance which was 51.34 and it gives the Irish athlete a fighting chance now for the medal podium. The heat was won by Natalia Kaczmarek from Poland who raced in 50.02.
Rhasidat Adeleke sailed through her heat in the 400 metres at the Championships, getting there in 50.80 seconds.
Afterwards Newport AC star Sharlene said she was thrilled with her own performance:
