South Tipperary farmers to stage Enough is Enough campaign tractor protest tonight

The protest will be staged on M8 motorway flyovers
Farmers in south Tipperary are taking part in the IFA ‘Enough is Enough’ protest campaign this evening when they bring tractors to the flyovers on the M8 motorway.
IFA South Tipperary chair Pat Carroll said they will assemble at 8pm to send a message that farmers are frustrated and angry with increased regulation, reduced supports and falling incomes.
In particular, Pat Carroll said the lack of certainty for farmers around regulations and the impact this has on day-to-day farming will be highlighted.
“It’s a time of year when farmers want to make plans and get on with work on their farms, but this is proving very difficult because of the failure of the Department (of Agriculture) to give clear guidance,” he said.
The impact of the Nitrates derogation is also a big issue in Tipperary, he said.
Mr Carroll pointed out the South Tipperary County Council meeting on Monday, March 11 will also be a focal point for farmers.
“Farmers are sick of regulations imposed on them at European, national and County Council level. These are adding extra costs at a time when the cost of doing business has rocketed.
"There has been no additional support for farmers with our CAP payments being repurposed towards environmental measures rather than food production. This is unsustainable, and the clear message from farmers is ‘enough is enough,” he declared.
