Successful Tipperary GAA cause enters its 38th year ahead of big push to the public

The Tipperary GAA County Draw is heading for its 38th year
On Wednesday, July 31, Tipperary GAA will proudly launch the 38th iteration of the County Draw at Revel The Ragg.
When people ask how our draw has stood the test of time as the country’s most consistently successful GAA fundraiser, the answer is simple: our draw exists primarily to serve our clubs. The County Draw is a collaborative effort between the Tipperary GAA County Board and all its clubs, becoming a major annual fundraiser for all involved.
It raises vital revenue for facility development and annual operational costs, relying on a vibrant network of promoters throughout the county who sell the €100 memberships within their local communities.
The real secret to our success lies in the financial model that benefits the clubs directly. Participating clubs have no financial exposure, as the total prize fund of €500,000 and all operational expenses are covered entirely by Tipperary GAA.
Each club receives at least 50% of every €100 ticket sold.
If a club sells more than 200 tickets, they net 60% on those tickets, and if they sell over 300 tickets, it rises to 70%.
The more a club promotes the County Draw, the more they benefit.
For example, in 2023, Nenagh Éire Óg GAA Club achieved the highest sales with over 600 members, netting their club a profit of almost €40,000, demonstrating the value of the County Draw as a fundraiser.
Clonakenny GAA currently have 394 members which is a massive achievement for their club. A statement from their club coordinator added “Over the last 37 years this draw has been a fantastic source of funds for our club.
“I wish to thank everyone for their continued support.
“In the last year we have continued to invest in our playing facilities to ensure our players and members have a club ground to be proud of."
Recent works completed include:
• Purchase of a robot mower capable of maintaining all grass areas
• Additional stand seating
• Installation of a storage shed
“We are also in the process of installing a new digital scoreboard which will make match days an even better experience for players and spectators alike”.
As Sean Treacys GAA Club continues to develop its outstanding facilities for players and supporters of the club at all levels.
Their Draw Coordinator went on to add “Sean Treacys as a club is extremely grateful to all those working with The Tipperary County Board Draw, it is one of our primary fundraisers and continues to be very popular with our members every year and this is demonstrated through the steady growth which we have seen over the last number of years.
“The Tipperary County Board Draw has provided our club with an invaluable source of finances as the club received a percentage of the contribution we sell.
“We would like to convey our gratitude to all those who have supported us over the last number of years and we hope our membership will continue to increase.
“Sean Treacys is an extremely ambitious club both on and off the pitch and this is evident in the facilities that we currently have on our grounds in Kilcommon.
“We are in the process of developing a second field along with a carpark and an extension to our walking track.
“It goes without saying that our ambitions cannot be realised without the continued support which we received from the Tipperary County Board Draw.
“Thank you once again for the continued support and generosity as we look forward to continued success both on and off the pitch in years to come”.
