Suspended jail and four-year ban for Tipperary motorist caught driving without insurance

A motorist who was observed by gardaí driving while disqualified has been given a suspended jail sentence by Judge Elizabeth MacGrath at Nenagh District Court.
Davis Asaks of 4 Northview House, Bulfin Road, Nenagh, pleaded to driving without insurance at Drummin Road, Nenagh, on December 6, 2023.
He also pleaded to having no driver’s licence on the same occasion.
His solicitor, David Peters, said that the incident was one of a series that occurred in and around the same time.
He pleaded with Judge MacGrath to give Mr Asaks a chance despite the seriousness of the offence.
“A suspended sentence may concentrate his mind,” said Mr Peters.
Judge MacGrath sentenced Mr Asaks to four months in jail, but suspended it for two years in his own bond of €250.
She disqualified him from driving for four years for driving without insurance and took the charge of having no driver’s licence into account.
