7. Sam O'Farrell (Nenagh Éire Óg) Had a tough day out in round one at corner back as Tommy Nolan ran amok, O’Farrell was relocated to midfield and had a far better performance as a result. He is a ball of energy and had countless possessions, with his ability to carry the ball his big strength. Scored 0-2 to boot in a solid day out for the 18-year old.

8. Dan McCormack (Borris-Ileigh) What a leader McCormack continues to be in the Borris-Ileigh ranks. He was all over the pitch on Sunday and literally covered every blade of grass. Started deep in the first half and as the game wore on he grew even more into the game. His late run and pass for Brendan Maher’s winning goal oozed calmness and experience.

9. Darragh Stakelum (Thurles Sarsfields) In a tight game in Templemore, Stakelum’s fingerprints were all over the Thurles victory with his 1-3 so important in such a narrow win. He took his goal with great assuredness and went through a big workload all game long. Hit some poor wides along with a few of his teammates, but other than that he impressed.

10. Cathal Barrett (Holycross Ballycahill) Not a man renowned for his scoring prowess but Barrett had a major last weekend in the controversial loss to Loughmore Castleiney. He was a menace in the half forward line and hit a huge personal tally of 1-5, with some of the scores unerring despite being a back man for most of his career.
