6. James Morris (St Marys) One of the big reasons St Marys came away from The Ragg with full points on Friday night, was the performance of James Morris. He is an incredibly athletic player, and he read the game well all evening and was a lynchpin of this Marys performance. Impressive for such a young man.

7. Michael Dolan (Lorrha) Dolan was one of the few Lorrha players who played a full 60 minutes to his potential, and his influence late in the game was a driving force for Lorrha to snatch a late win. He dropped deep in the second half, reading the game so well, with his power coming from defence a real positive. A real leader in this Lorrha team.

8. Paudie Feehan (Killenaule) Rarely does Paudie get the plaudist after an emphatic win, but he was literally everywhere in Borris-Ileigh on Saturday. He covered every blade of grass, particularly in the first half when Port played with a significant breeze, and just carried ball after ball to set up attacks and bring others into play. Hit 0-3 of his own to boot. Unheralded.

9. Cathal Quinn (Cashel King Cormacs) Aside from the four red cards dished out in Holycross during Sunday’s game between Cashel and Moyne Templetuohy, Cathal Quinn’s performance was impressive around all that noise. He led by example when his team were down to 12 and his goal after the Nathan Ryan sending off was pivotal and gave Cashel something to hold onto. He has real power and class about him.
