2. Tom Duggan (Lorrha) One of the more unheralded performers in this Lorrha team on their way to county success. Duggan is from the school of the teak tough cornerbacks and was reliable all year in a defence which was largely sound, especially coming towards the business end of the year.

3. David Maher (Thurles Sarsfields) An experienced head at number three is always required for a team to progress in any championship, and David Maher was so for this Sarsfields outfit. Not many players got the better of Maher this year, and in the two drawn finals he was immense despite some goal concessions knocking the Sarsfields defence.

4. Aidan Ryan (Thurles Sarsfields) Playing in the role of an auxiliary half back, Ryan was brilliant for Sarsfields this year and chipped in with plenty of scores to go with his big influence in games. A game didn't go by all year without Ryan proving to be influential, and long range score taking was a big hallmark of his displays.

5. Michael Dolan (Lorrha) Dolan has spent the last two years playing a captains role, and in doing so led by example in every game for Lorrha in their run to county final glory. His presence at the heart of defence was pivotal in most every game and his long range free taking was a real weapon, particularly in close games. He's the heartbeat of the Lorrha defence.
