On the May 22, two of our TY students, Myeshim Khayar and Claire Flannery, travelled to Brussels to visit the European Parliament.

Whilst doing our TY programme, the girls received many opportunities throughout the year to take part in various activities.

When the chance to enter a competition to win a prize to travel to Brussels came up, the girls grasped it enthusiastically!

The girls had to compose 500-word essays on the impact of fifty years of EU membership on Ireland and were then selected as competition winners.

The girls won a trip of a lifetime to EU headquarters and were given guided tours of the hemi-cycle and the European house of history.

Our girls also had the privilege to meet with and talk to Mairéad McGuinness, the European Commissioner for Ireland.

The girls had an amazing trip and would like to thank Sean Kelly for running this competition and giving young people with an interest in politics an opportunity to learn more about his work and how it impacts Ireland.

Well done, ladies. We are proud of both of you.
