Tipperary active school class hold Table Tennis Takeover event

Newport College staff and students are committed to promoting an active lifestyle, and we have been making huge strides in the Active School Programme.
Last year, having earned our Certificate in the Active School programme, we continue our journey to complete stage three, with the goal of achieving the Active School Flag this academic year.
Running the programme requires a huge commitment from both, staff and students and with an active school class now timetabled on our transition year programme, the students are leading out the co-ordination of whole school events.
Encouraging physical activity among the student body is central to their mission.
Last Friday, the Active school class kicked off their campaign with an exhilarating Table Tennis Takeover event.
Throughout the day, each class group had a designated time to visit the school hall, where the transition year students had set up tables, paddles, and balls for an exciting game of table tennis.
The room buzzed with energy as an invigorating playlist organised by the students played in the background.
Students from all grade levels took the opportunity to participate, and they displayed exceptional hand-eye coordination, with many competitive matches taking place.
Well done to our Transition Year Active Flag class and their teachers, Ms Keating, and Mr O’Mara, for their role in organising this event.
Not only did they create a vibrant atmosphere in the hall, but they also provided a fun and energetic activity that allowed the whole school to get moving and enjoy the benefits of physical activity!
