"I accidentally left my microphone on and some of the language used wasn't appropriate for the chamber. I shouldn't have done it and I'll endeavour as best as I can that it won't happen again," he ended.
The incident in question happened on Tuesday, September 16 at a special meeting regarding nominations for candidacy in the upcoming Irish Presidential Election.
Fine Gael’s Mary Hanna Hourigan sided with the motion to nominate and went on to nominate Gareth Sheridan herself, against her parties wishes.
This prompted Cllr Browne to say “F**king yes! Fair play Mary!”, accidentally as he didn't realise his mic was left on.
