Former Craft Granary building in Cahir is being transformed

Works to deliver a new library for Cahir are advancing, according to an update from Tipperary County Council.

Construction activity at the former Craft Granary building, which is being redeveloped to house the new Cahir Library, is ongoing with Mulcahy Construction leading the project on site.

The former Craft Granary building on Church Street in Cahir is a beautiful space and will be a vibrant community hub once complete.

The new library will be the first in county Tipperary to provide a suite of new technology solutions to the public. These include a Podcasting Room, a dedicated Makerspace room which has technologies such as Robotics and 3D Printing.

In addition, the library will have a meeting room, gallery space and sensory room. It will be transformed into a modern, highly energy-efficient and sustainable building.

These works will be overseen by Robin Lee Architecture, the project Architect and Mulcahy Construction, the construction company who will carry out all building works.

So far, all demolition works have now been completed with new stud walls, insulation, and mechanical and electrical works in progress.

Already, the building’s façade has had lime mortar re-pointing and restoration works continue. We can look forward to a new use for this wonderful old building in Cahir once complete.
