“As a campaigner and as a journalist I have been involved for decades in making positive change for people and planet. I am pioneering and practical and now I am bringing my energy, skills and passion to politics.”

“I have worked for Greenpeace and Trocaire. I was centrally involved in the national campaign to phase out one-off plastic bags. I helped kickstart the solar rooftop energy revolution in Co Tipperary and am a founder member of Cloughjordan ecovillage. Against the odds, and in anticipation of climate change, we bought 67-acres, built 55 ecological homes, created allotments and a community-farm, and planted thousands of trees.

“Now whether on the doorsteps or at the local IFA election hustings, the climate debate is over. Look at Valencia, Listowel, Killybegs. Flooding, drought and extreme weather are here.

“Only the Greens can be trusted on climate. As your Tipperary North TD I will ramp up retrofitting and rooftop solar, making people’s homes warmer and cheap to run. I will work to streamline the grants for renovating vacant and derelict houses and above shop apartments.

The Greens have revolutionised rural public transport, rolling out new and improved Local Links such as the route along the lake. As a TD I will bring a two-hourly train service to the Nenagh line, work for an hourly service through Templemore and Thurles and ensure the enhanced bus route from Nenagh to Thurles and on to Clonmel is properly funded.

I will fight to support farmers to farm for nature, for our climate and for water, thus ensuring the nitrates derogation will be retained. I will fight to save the Suir and Lough Derg, which, alarmingly, is green with toxic algae now, in November.

I will support women living with domestic violence by campaigning to build a Woman’s refuge in North Tipperary.

Only four women have ever represented Co Tipperary in Dail Eireann. I’d like to be the fifth. I am humbly asking voters to upset the male status quo by giving me your number one.”
