Tipperary man who had 'too much to drink' at cousin's wedding fined for abusing gardaí

A man who was threatening and abusive towards gardaí has been fined by Judge Elizabeth MacGrath at Nenagh District Court.
Joseph McInerney of No Fixed Abode, pleaded to threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour at Chapel Lane, Roscrea, on July 1, 2023.
The court heard that the gardaí were called to the area at 6.30am where they found Mr McInerney to be noisy and intoxicated.
He shouted at the gardaí and became increasingly aggressive towards them when they were trying to get his details, the court was told.
Mr McInerney’s solicitor, David Peters, said that his client had been at his cousin’s wedding and the celebrations had continued.
“He did have too much to drink,” said Mr Peters.
Judge MacGrath fined Mr McInerney €200 and fixed recognizance in his own bond of €250.
