Tipperary motorist who collided with a wall while driving at a 'very slow speed' disqualified

A mother of three has been disqualified from driving for three years at Thurles District Court.
Amirah Yasmin, 29, of 7 Hazelwood Grove, Thurles, pleaded guilty to refusal to give a sample at Templemore Garda Station on March 31, 2022.
The arresting garda told the court that on the day of the incident they observed a vehicle going at a ‘very slow speed’ collide with a wall.
They said they believed the driver to be intoxicated and arrested her. At the station they asked the defendant to provide a sample of blood, which she refused.
Sergeant Tom Hanrahan, acting for the State, said that aside from Ms Yasmin’s refusal to provide a sample she did not cause the gardaí any other problems. Acting for the defendant, Pádraig de Búrca BL told the court that his client was a mother of three who became dependent on alcohol as a result of an abusive relationship.
He said his client apologised at the time, is now alcohol free and attending therapy.
Judge Elizabeth MacGrath said she noted the defendant’s circumstances and the fact that she had no previous convictions. She imposed an €150 fine and disqualified Ms Yasmin from driving for a period of four years.
