Two Tipperary players were on the Irish women’s rugby team that produced a shock result by beating world champions New Zealand 29-27 in their opening WXV1 clash in Vancouver.

Amee-Leigh Murphy Crowe and Dorothy Wall were in the team that scored five tries against a New Zealand team that dominated possession, and had three tries disallowed by the TMO.

A try from Erin King levelled the scores in the final minute and a successful conversion by Dannah O’Brien, via the post, secured the surprise victory.

Ireland face hosts Canada in their second game next Saturday.
