The Premier county sits in sixth place and has had the largest price increases from last year to now, jumping seven places according to Chill Insurance.

Insurance Experts say car insurance premiums take your location into account to assess the risk of a claim for example some rural counties have higher insurance premiums than others because of the higher rates of claims.

Longford is the county in Ireland with the highest car insurance costs, paying €915 on average. Louth comes in second with a slightly lower price of €803. Limerick completes the top three, both having an average of €779 for car insurance.
