Tipperary school welcome two teachers from Nepal

We were very pleased to welcome two teachers from Nepal to our school during the week.

They are currently visiting Ireland and fundraising for the operation of a school in Kathmandu to ensure that 1000 children, (including those from an orphanage), receive a top-quality education following the devastation of their region from the 2015 Nepal earthquake, which killed 9,000 people.

Their vision of education for all reminded us of our own founder Edmund Rice, who set up schools to educate the poor and needy in an Ireland suffering from famines and poverty.

In our photo is Rabin Khadka, who graduated from the MIC Thurles sponsored online leadership programme, and school leader Rom Hari, who are speaking to fourth-year student

Jack Kennedy. Jack, along with John Joe Ryan, also in 4th year, acted as their guides during the visit, providing them with a lot of information about their experiences and opinions of

education generally.

They were also joined by Finn O'Murchu, Head of MIC Thurles and their Dublin fundraiser coordinator Brian, who works with The International Foundation Supporting Children in Nepal.
