Young Carers Action Day is on Wednesday March 12

This year for Young Carers Action Day, Family Carers Ireland are inviting Tipperary schools to take part.

This year’s theme is 'Give me a break' which is a great way to acknowledge that young carers need both a physical break from their caring responsibilities, but also, they need to ‘get a break’ from teachers and school staff by understanding their needs and offering reasonable accommodations and supports.

Family Carers Ireland are  inviting schools and teachers to give young carers a break on March 12th in a number of ways . That would include  giving  your class a 2-minute mindfulness break to reflect on any caring responsibilities they have in their family, nominate a staff member young carers can go to when they are stressed or overwhelmed and inform students of supports available in Family Carers Ireland.

Cllr Richie Molloy, manager of the Clonmel branch of Family Carers Ireland said he hoped as many schools as possible in Tipperary would take part.
