Tipperary students bid to compete in the Irish Angus Beef Schools Competition

Two groups of Ursuline Transition Year students competed in the Regional interviews of the Irish Angus Beef Schools Competition in Moorepark, Fermoy on Tuesday, January 16.
Saoirse Ryan, Ellen Ryan, Lilly Kavanagh and Louise McGrath based their project on the utilisation of Angus genetics to increase the beef merit of dairy calves.
The other group consisting of Emily Creagh, Amber Bannon, Audrey McNamara and Ellen Seymour focused their research on traceability on Irish farms in comparison to other countries.
They students will know over the coming weeks whether they have qualified for the National Final in CrokePark.
Here they hope to join the 2022/23 finalists Gráinne Callanan, Rebekah Smith, Evie Smyth and Kaitlyn Ryan, who have their fingers crossed to win the overall title after raising their Angus calves for a year and a half and selling them to ABP Cahir in before Christmas.
Good luck to all teams in this highly prestigious schools’ competition.
