Tipperary TD Jackie Cahill has said that he is "confident" the bypass for Tipperary Town will be included in the 2023 Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) budget following a meeting he had with new Minister for Transport Jack Chambers, who has special responsibility for road transportation.

“I spoke with the new Road Transport Minister, Jack Chambers and I am pleased to learn that progress is being made in securing provision for the Tipperary Town bypass in the 2023 TII budget," he said.

Deputy Cahill said that he had been working with various local groups in Tipperary Town, including the Chamber of Commerce, Jobs4Tipp and March4Tipp since the Government took office over two-and-a-half-years ago to advance this "desperately needed piece of road infrastructure" for Tipperary.

“The first big step was getting the N24 enhancement works included in the National Development Plan, which we did with the assistance of the then Taoiseach, Micheál Martin; Minister Michael McGrath and others. Now that that’s in place, we have a mechanism to secure a budget for these works," he said.

The Thurles TD said that while he was pleased with the progress to date, he naturally would like to see this move as quickly as possible.
