Rockwell College were crowned winners of the national final of the Generation Euro competition at the Central Bank in Dublin recently.

The competition required a presentation to a jury of economists including the Deputy Governor of the Irish Central Bank Sharon Donnery by the three-man team who were prepared for the competition by their mentor, Economics teacher Mr. Pat Egan.

In its presentation, the team of Ronan O’Connor (Tipperary Town) Peter Heaney (New Inn) and Padraig Duggan (Killenaule) navigated inflation, interest rates and international financial markets.

Team mentor Pat Egan praised the hard work of the boys, stating “This was a real team effort. Each of the boys brought their personal strengths in both the preparation for and the presentation at the final. They deserved their win and I am very proud of their success”.
