It is astonishing!

A Tipperary undertaker has revealed the reason no funerals go down Barrack Street in Fethard.

Folklore.ie was recording interviews with undertakers for The Tipperary Museum of Hidden History in Clonmel and "a story cropped up regarding Oliver Cromwell and funerals in Fethard".

The page stated: "So on Wednesday I was delighted to meet undertaker/publican Jasper Murphy from the town and he told me the story.

"Basically, the bowld Oliver Cromwell passed though Barrack Street in April 1650 and as a result, to this day a local funeral will not pass through the street.

"Even though it is the most direct route to the graveyard, they will take the longer route just to avoid it.

"Unreal. I'll let Jasper explain."
