Tipperary woman who 'fell off wagon' and went on theft spree looking for a 'second chance'

A woman who stole almost €300 worth of items from a supermarket in Nenagh has had her case adjourned by Nenagh District Court to allow her to pay full compensation.
Roletta Harty, 29 of 2 Drom Slinne, Portroe, pleaded to a total of nine theft of items.
She pleaded guilty to theft of items valued at €329 from Aldi, Nenagh, on January 9, 2023.
Ms Harty also pleaded guilty to theft of cleaning products from O’Connor’s Supermarket, Kenyon Street, Nenagh, on February 20, 2023.
She had pleaded at an earlier court to theft of a bank card from a house in Tyone, Nenagh, on September 20, 2022, and to using a stolen bank card on the same date at two stores in Nenagh.
She pleaded to obtaining goods valued at a total of €66 from O’Connor’s Supermarket on two occasions, and to obtaining goods valued at €100 from DV8, Pearse Street, Nenagh, on three occasions on September 9, 2022.
Ms Harty had also pleaded to the theft of fake tan valued at €20 from Guerins Pharmacy, Mitchel Street, Nenagh, on September 24, 2022.
Her solicitor David Peters, told Judge Elizabeth MacGrath that Ms Harty had “previously prospered” following a probation report, but that she “fell off the wagon” around the time of the offences.
“She is making huge efforts and is back attending a counsellor. Basically, she is looking for a second chance,” he said.
Judge MacGrath adjourned all matters to September 15.
