Triathlete from Tipperary seeks donations to help cover travel costs to Championships
Althea Lonergan from Clonmel has set up a GoFundMe to raise funds to help cover her travel and equipment costs.
A triathlete from Clonmel, Tipperary has been chosen to represent Ireland at the European Age Group Triathlon Championships in Istanbul this August.
Althea Lonergan has thrown herself into a wide range of disciplines over the years, from GAA and gymnastics to showjumping and CrossFit, before discovering triathlon in 2024.
"Since then, I’ve had a fantastic first two seasons in the sport, achieving multiple age group podiums across the country while proudly representing Clonmel Triathlon Club, where I also serve on the committee," says Athlea.
This opportunity to represent Ireland at the European Age Group Triathlon Championships in Istanbul, is the result of Althea's huge dedication, training, and determination.
Althea is hoping that people in Tipperary can help support her by donating money towards her travel costs.
"Competing internationally comes with significant travel and equipment costs, all of which I must cover personally. To help ease this personal financial burden, I’ve set up a GoFundMe page and am reaching out to local businesses who may be interested in supporting my journey.
"Any contribution, no matter the size, would go directly toward race entry, travel, accommodation, and equipment expenses. I’d also love to showcase and thank any supporting businesses on my social media, where appropriate."
If you’d like to support Althea, you can do so via the GoFundMe page here.
