Local Enterprise Office praised for its work

A total of €125,000 that had been approved by the Local Enterprise Office (LEO) for five projects in Clonmel would create at least 20 jobs in the area.

This was stated by Ita Horan, LEO’s Assistant Head of Enterprise, at a meeting of Clonmel Borough District.

She said that the landscape was very positive for small business development in the area. This included manufacturing, specifically engineering, and anything to do with fabrication and IT development.

Ms Horan said that the area was very fortunate to have Questum, the acceleration centre based at the Ballingarrane Science and Technology Park on the outskirts of the town.

Questum is a community of entrepreneurs who enable regional creators, innovators and disruptors to grow and develop business ideas.

Ita Horan said that LEO was trying to support other sectors that were in difficulty, such as retail and hospitality, with business advice and mentoring.

Energy efficiency grants were available to cope with rising costs, while other grants were also available for businesses in all sectors that were introducing new software.

Deputy Mayor Pat English stated that 20 new jobs were very welcome in the local economy, and he thanked the Local Enterprise Office for all its work.
