'We don't kiss and tell,' Tipperary's Sharlene Mawdsley answers fans' questions

"We don't kiss and tell," Tipperary Olympian Sharlene Mawdsley answered fans' questions on Instagram this week. 

The Newport AC athlete - whose homecoming will take place this Sunday at Newport Town Park from 6.30pm - took to the social media platform to answer fans' questions and what did it reveal, well, she is super down to earth and awesome!

Sharlene was on Team Ireland that came fourth in the 4x400m women's relay final at the Paris Olmypics.

The team's remarkable time of 3.19.90 would have been enough for silver in every Olympic final apart from 1988.

The Irish team came so close as Mawdsley's anchor leg came up just short on the line with the Great Britain and Netherlands team pipping her at the line for second and third, as the US team stormed to the gold medal.

Sharlene took to Instagram to answers fans' questions and some of her responses were interesting to say the least. 

One asked: "Are you getting the tattoo?" To which she replied: "That's the plan, but where..."

Another asked: "How did you cope with the nerves? Or do you get nervous?"

Sharlene replied: "I was super nervous for the mixed relay. I think it was because I built it up so much in my head; but then I remembered I've done this so many times before there was no point stressing myself about it."

One user asked: "How was life at the village and what sport would you choose if you weren't a sprinter?"

Sharlene said: "It was so nice! But I was definitely happy to leave. Ohh gymnastics is so cool, maybe that. But I'm not one bit flexible so..."

Another said: "I was going to chance breakdancing next time but unfortunately it'll be on in LA."

Sharlene said: "I was gonna do it too. After a bottle of wine I think I'd have won gold."

Another user asked: "Was there much smooching going on between athletes."

Sharlene cheekily replied: "We don't kiss and tell x"
