Thurles RFC was the venue for the encounter between the Ursuline Junior Rugby team and their counterparts from Borrisoleigh.

It was a super performance from both sides and a historic day for UCT, it being the first game of 15 a side full contact, competitive rugby the school has participated in.

Sophie Coughlan and Róise O’Brien scored for the Ursuline, and Doireann Lynch converted to finish up 17-12 to Borrisoleigh.

Thanks to captain Orla Carey and vice-captain Molly Hayes and to the students who donned the UCT rugby jersey, all of whom play with home clubs.

A special mention to Ms Fahey, who has done huge work in promoting rugby throughout the school.
