Driver had no licence, insurance or NCT when stopped by Gardaí in Cashel

A vehicle was seized by Gardaí after multiple road traffic offences were detected during a patrol in Cashel earlier this week.

Members of the Tipperary Roads Policing Unit (RPU) stopped the car in the Upper Green area of Cashel, Co. Tipperary, on Tuesday, March 10th, 2026 at approximately 11am.

The vehicle had initially drawn Garda attention after triggering an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) alert while officers were on patrol.

Following checks at the scene, Gardaí discovered a number of serious issues.

The driver had never held a driving licence and was also uninsured. In addition, the vehicle had no valid NCT, with a number of major issues identified that required attention.

Gardaí also noted that the car had excessively tinted windows, which is a breach of road traffic regulations.

As a result of these offences, the vehicle was seized at the scene.

Gardaí have confirmed that court proceedings will follow in relation to the offences detected during the stop.
