Winning Tipperary captains will be honoured in Croke Park today

Three Tipperary women will be on the field and introduced to the crowd at half time in the All-Ireland Ladies Football final today
Across the years Tipperary teams have had plenty to cheer about on All-Ireland final day and today when the 50th All-Ireland senior Ladies football final takes place between Dublin and Kerry, three winning Tipperary captains will be honoured.
At half-time today in Croke Park all the previous winning captains of Ladies football All-Ireland winning teams at senior level will be will be introduced on the field in front of the Hogan Stand.
Tipperary recently won the intermediate title when Samantha Lambert was captain but today it is the senior winning captains that are being honoured and in the first year of the competition back in 1974, Tipperary were crowned champions with Kitty Savage (nee Ryan) going up to collect the cup.
Tipperary won the cup on two further occasions and it was one year later, in 1975, that Margaret Rossiter (nee Carroll) collected the cup as the Premier County achieved back to back titles.
The third victory arrived in 1980 when the winning Tipperary team was captained by Josie Bourke (nee Stapleton). It is a proud day for the captains and their clubs and one worth keeping an eye out for on the television on what is the biggest day of all in Ladies Football.
