Age Friendly Roscrea celebrates ‘Culture Night'

Old Roscrea Courthouse comes to life as Ramblers young & old flock to share music & song
Following on from last month’s successful Roscrea Heritage Society event, the Old Roscrea Courthouse again came to life when Ramblers young and old flocked to share music, song, dance, verse and stories.
Some 80 Roscrea friends and neighbours shared their talent and enjoyed a warm friendly welcome in this unique setting.
The old ‘petty sessions’ Courthouse on Goal Road, Roscrea has reopened and is now home to a host of activities organized by ‘Age Friendly Roscrea’.
Rambling house, an old Irish Tradition was most definitely enjoyed last Friday with a gathering of local talent including musicians, singers, dancers, poets, story tellers and comedians which provided a variety of quality entertainment for young and old. It was all there.
Fear an Tí, Seamus Moloughney moved through the crowd who had gathered and settled in for a great night's entertainment, inviting and introducing those who wished to participate.
The willingness to share one's talent was amazing. Contributors on the night included; Joe Moloughney, Anthony Burke, Denis Quirke, Bobby Fahy, Michael Mc Evoy, Micksie and Bridgie Doran, Pat and Marian Flanagan, Sarah Neville, Neala Graham, Donie Walsh, Linda De Lewis, Peg Hanlon, Mary McNamara, Maria Phelan, Martina Phelan, Peter Byrne, Edel Carey, Del O’Reilly, Timmy Sutton and Cronan Wright.
After refreshments a second round ensured finishing up with a group rendition of Its a long way to Tipperary sung in a round with Pack up your Troubles which almost lifted the roof. A thoroughly enjoyable evening was had by all.
Age Friendly Roscrea wishes to acknowledge the support of the Tipperary Arts Office and Pamela Aitkin, Roscrea Heritage Society.
And a huge thank you to all who came to do Roscrea proud.
