Balancing growth with the natural world explored in Tipperary art exhibition

Artworks that capture symbolic power of trees within our urban fabric
The linn gallery, located above The Narrow Space in Mitchel Street, Clonmel, is hosting its current exhibition ‘Urban Canopy’ until Saturday, March 28.
The exhibition explores the vital and often complex relationship between trees and our urban landscape. In a rapidly heating world, the role of trees has never been more critical.
As we continue to develop our towns, we find ourselves in a paradox: the more we build, the more we rely on the resilience of trees to keep our streets cool and liveable.
‘Urban Canopy’ illuminates this tension, showcasing artworks that capture the struggle and symbolic power of trees within our urban fabric.
Featured artists include Iryna Chernieva, Angela Fewer, Jacqueline Gartlan, David Kavanagh, Dave Madigan, Tetiana Milshyna and Ellen O’Connor.
The exhibition was opened by Dr Alan Moore of Hedgerows Ireland and the SuirCan Environmental Forum.
Dr Moore’s expertise in environmental advocacy perfectly complements the theme of the show, which aims to spark conversation about how we balance modern growth with the natural world.

“We want this show to offer a fresh perspective,” says curator Máire de Leastar.
“I invite you to come see each artist’s response and unique perspective on this theme.
“The results are truly unexpected and intriguing”.
linn gallery says it was deeply honoured to have Dr Alan Moore open the exhibition.
“His words served as a gentle reminder of our natural heritage, noting that while progress is being made with new local strategies, the protection of our environment remains a vital conversation for us all”.
