Gardaí conducted additional searches at a property in Tipperary Town following a multi‑agency operation investigating incidents of animal cruelty and arrested a male on Wednesday 1st April 2026.

Seven roosters were discovered during the searches, 6 alive and 1 deceased. They were seized and handed into the care of the NSPCA, who will carry out an assessment.

A male in his 40s was arrested and conveyed to a Garda Station in Co Tipperary. He has since been charged and is due to appear in front of the Tipperary District Court sitting at Thurles at a later date.

Investigations are ongoing and Gardaí continue to liaise with the Department of Agriculture and other relevant agencies regarding this matter.
