Uisce Éireann says it’s working to restore water to impacted customers and is making alternative water supplies available in some areas

Uisce Éireann is working to restore supply to customers in Cashel and surrounding areas following an interruption at Farranamanagh Water Treatment Plant and also in Drangan village and some communities served by the Dundrum Regional Water Supply Scheme due to low reservoir levels and high demand.

The utility says its crews are working to resolve the issues in these communities as quickly as possible.

In relation to the supply disruption caused by the issue at Farranamanagh Water Treatment Plant, Uisce Éireann says the reduced output from the plant means that water supply is currently under pressure in some areas.

“High demand coupled with the reduction in treated water available may result in outages for customers in Cashel and surrounding areas from this evening,” said the utility.

“Overnight restrictions remain in place in Cashel to further allow reservoir levels recover with supply expected to be restored tomorrow morning, Sunday.

“To support impacted customers, alternative water supplies are available at John the Baptist NS, Old Road, Cashel and at LIDL, Cahir Road, Cashel.”

Uisce Éireann reminded customers to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.

Elsewhere, the utility says some customers on the Dundrum Regional Water Supply Scheme may be experiencing supply disruptions.

Low treated water reservoir levels and sustained high demand have impacted supply in Goolds Cross, Ardmayle, Stonepark, Kilbreedy, Clonmore South/North, Cloon, Ballydine, Ballagh and surrounding areas.

Uisce Éireann says to support impacted customers, an alternative water supply will be available at the Creamery at Goolds Cross this evening.

Meanwhile, Uisce Éireann crews are also working to restore water supply to customers in Drangan Village and surrounding areas.

Supply interruptions are being experienced in the area due to high demand and low treated reservoir levels.

The utility says that while raw water sources remain stable, the exceptional level of demand in recent days is placing pressure on the supply.

“This means treated water is being used more quickly than it can be supplied to customers. This has led to low reservoir levels in the area, resulting in supply disruptions for some customers today.

“Areas impacted include Drangan village, Newtown, Ballydonnell, Moanvurrin, Lismalin, The Island, Mohober, and surrounding areas. To support impacted customers, alternative water supplies are available in Drangan Village and Lismalin Cross.

Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply to all these areas as quickly as possible.

“We understand the inconvenience that this outage may cause, and we thank customers for their support while reservoir levels replenish throughout the day and tonight. We expect that level reservoir levels will recover overnight and that supply will return to impacted customers over the course of tomorrow.

“However, there may be intermittent supply disruptions tomorrow due to the high demand we are seeing across our supplies in the area.

“We are also asking customers to reduce their water usage across county Tipperary to give treated water reservoirs time to replenish.

“Even small changes, when taken across communities, can have a significant impact in maintaining supply for everyone. It’s not always obvious where to start, but simple actions at home and in the garden can make a real difference,” said Pierce.
