'We just have to dust ourselves down and start again'

The conclusion to Wednesday evening's Munster Under 20 Hurling Championship game between Tipperary and Clare at FBD Semple was described by Tipp manager Brendan Cummins as “a bit mad”.

Mad indeed. Seven points up with four minutes of the hour remaining but a man down, Tipperary collapsed in the last seven minutes of actual play, as Clare came back from the dead to snatch a dramatic win.

Despite the defeat, Tipp are still through to the provincial semi-finals, ahead of their final group game against Limerick at the TUS Gaelic Grounds next Wednesday evening.

Manager Brendan Cummins said, “We just have to dust ourselves down and start again.

“We had won seven games in a row at this level up to this evening and that is what we will be looking at in the hope of beating Limerick. We just have to park those last few minutes.

"The lads had been playing very well, and everything was going the way we expected , but then the game took a life of its own and we were on the wrong side of it”.

Looking ahead to next week's game, he said “We have a semi-final spot at worst and that is a good position to be in. Limerick will be hoping to put one over us so we will have to be way better than tonight”.
