This week's Yesteryears series in the Tipperary Star

From our Yesteryear archives dating back to December 1982, we read about North Tipperary County Council denying that a secret file was being kept on members’ comments.

County Secretary Mr Tom Griffin was forced to deny the extraordinary claim by Mr Frank Lewis at a meeting of the local authority that the council was keeping a secret file of members’ comments, which was then being used against them.

Mr Lewis raised the matter during consideration of the minutes of the previous meeting relating to exchanges between the County Manager, Mr John McGinley and himself, stating that the minutes did not accurately reflect what had gone on.
